Mobile Roller Rink Coming to Cincinnati
A new mobile roller rink is coming to downtown Cincinnati this month. The rink is movable so it will be able to go to a variety of locations within Cincinnati’s city limits.
The rink will have nearly 10,000 square feet of floor space and include 150 pairs of outdoor roller skates available for rent. The outdoor roller skates will be available for rent for $5, and the price of admission will be $2. Patrons can also bring their own skates.
The rink is being created through a partnership with 3CDC and Frisch’s. Frisch’s said roller skating rose to popularity in the 1930s-1950s at the same time that the first Frisch’s restaurant was also opening and rising in popularity.
Outdoor roller skates will be available for rent for $5, and the price of admission will be $2. Patrons can also bring their own skates.
The Frisch’s Roller Rink will open for the first time on Memorial Day Weekend on the newly renovated Court Street Plaza. Details on Memorial Day Weekend events including times, entertainment and more will be shared on the Court Street Plaza Facebook Page.
Updates will be announced in the coming weeks. More information can be found here.
Boy, 7, crashes after taking parents’ SUV to get Slushie
A 7-year-old Middletown boy’s brief joyride was captured on in-car cameras Thursday morning after he drove off in his parents’ SUV. Wittenbach said he and his wife keep their keys hanging high on a wall, but that Daniel somehow managed to get hold of them. In the dash camera footage, you can see Daniel driving the wrong way down a grassy shoulder on Roosevelt Boulevard around 8:30 a.m. As for why he took his parents’ SUV, apparently it was in the quest of a sweet treat.
“His only response was, ‘I just wanted a slushie from Speedway,’” said Wittenbach. “I’m just thankful that he’s alive.”
Daniel is not the first one in his family to try something like this. His father says that when he was five years old, he attempted to take his parents’ car.
