Trevor Noah hosted from the MGM Arena, which has housed the Latin Grammy Awards for 6 years. Jazz pianist and Late Show With Stephen Colbert bandleader Jon Batiste led the nominations with 11 going in, 8 for his album We Are and 3 for his score for the 2020 Pixar film Soul.

Gamecocks Win Women’s NCAA National Championship
The Gamecocks took a 13-2 lead in the game’s opening minutes and never looked back, leading throughout the 2022 NCAA Tournament championship game. The South Carolina Gamecocks won their second national championship in five years.

Women’s Sports Bar Called ‘The Sports Bra’ Set to Open in Portland
An Oregon bar called The Sports Bra has just opened, and is dedicated exclusively to women’s sports. Jenny Nguyen, a chef and founder of The Sports Bra in Portland, said she believes her business is the world’s first sports bar dedicated exclusively to women’s sports. | ||
Nguyen wants to serve food and drink from female-owned businesses, too. | ||
The idea came when Nguyen and some friends wanted to watch a women’s championship basketball game at a sports bar, but had to watch on a TV with the sound off, because men’s games had priority. |
Eric Church Announces Free Concert
After canceling a Texas show to watch the Final Four, Country singer and North Carolina Tar Heels fan Eric Church is offering unhappy fans a free show.
Church announced that he would be returning to the Lone Star State for a “one of a kind free show” in New Braunfels on Sept. 2. “Thank you San Antonio for letting me take my family to this game,” Church wrote on Twitter. “It took me a minute to figure out how and when I could properly express my thanks.” Church was scheduled to bring his “The Gather Again Tour” to the AT&T Center in San Antonio on April 2.
C.W. McCall, Singer of ‘Convoy,’ has Died
William Fries Jr. known professionally as C.W McCall, the country singer known for truck-themed songs like “Convoy,” died Friday after a battle with cancer and two months in hospice. He was 93. Throughout his career, he had several country hits including “Convoy,” “Wolf Creek Pass” and “Old Home Filler-Up an’ Keep on a-Truckin’ Cafe.” | ||

Estelle Harris Dies: ‘Seinfeld’s Estelle Costanza, ‘Toy Story’ Franchise’s Mrs. Potato Head Was 93
Estelle Harris, who played George Costanza’s (Jason Alexander) mother Estelle on the iconic NBC sitcom Seinfeld, died Saturday evening of natural causes in Palm Desert, California, just weeks before her 94th birthday. Alexander paid tribute to Harris on Twitter following the news of her death.

Sacramento Shooting: At least 2 Shooters Kill 6, Wound 12
At least two shooters opened fire early Sunday in Sacramento in the city’s second mass shooting in five weeks, killing six people and wounding 12 others as bars closed for the night and crowds emptied onto downtown streets, police said.
Three men and three women were killed, Police Chief Kathy Lester said. Their bodies remained on the pavement hours after the gunfire erupted around 2 a.m. Police sought clues from a crime scene that stretched across multiple city blocks as they searched for the shooters. The area where Sunday’s killings occurred is on the outskirts of the city’s main entertainment district and has many bars and restaurants. It’s anchored by the Golden One Center that attracts big-name concerts and is home to the NBA’s Sacramento Kings. Videos on social media showed what appeared to be an altercation before the gunfire in California’s capital city.
