Coronavirus Relief Aid Not Happening

At least anytime soon.  Congress will head home for a week-long Thanksgiving holiday recess without passing any sort of compromise coronavirus relief bill as the U.S. death toll passes 250,000 and millions of Americans remain on unemployment. But there is some hope that renewed talks could see some sort of coronavirus relief aid in the coming weeks even with little time remaining on the legislative calendar before the end of the year.

Apple WAS Slowing Your Old Phone Down

Apple has agreed to pay millions of dollars to 34 states over its controversial previous practice of deliberately slowing down older iPhones to extend their battery life. The company will pay $113 million to settle an investigation by states including California and Arizona over how Apple wasn’t transparent about its iPhone battery problems that led to unexpected device shutdowns.

Michael J. Fox Retiring Again

He is retiring again because of health concerns. The actor, who was diagnosed decades ago with Parkinson’s disease, shares his thoughts on the subject in his new book, No Time Like the Future. Fox has had more recent health issues, including a 2018 surgery to remove a noncancerous tumor from his spine. He writes that “There is a time for everything, and my time of putting in a 12-hour workday, and memorizing 7 pages of dialogue, is best behind me,” he writes.

“You can tell things are sweet,” the 33-year-old said. “You can tell things are salty. You just don’t get the flavor with it. I can eat really healthy right now, and it doesn’t matter because I can’t taste it.”

The former Cincinnati Bengal is not sure how he contracted the virus, but said that his wife and one of his three sons also tested positive. He has since cleared both COVID-19 and concussion protocol and will return to the Cowboys’ matchup with the Vikings on Sunday.
