-Born and raised in Cincinnati, attended  Moeller High School 

– accepted a football scholarship to the University of Michigan, but during his freshman year, he decided to play baseball exclusively.

-Larkin played shortstop for the Reds from 1986 to 2004. One of the best players of his era, Nine Silver Slugger awards, Three Gold Glove awards and a whole lot more.

-Robert and Shirley Larkin had five children.

-Eldest sister Robin wasn’t interested in her brothers’ constant battles.

-Barry, Byron And Stephen were the most competitive and athletic.

-His Brother Byron, went on to become Xavier basketball’s all-time leading scorer. Scored 2,696 points

-Youngest brother Stephen Larkin played in one Major League Baseball game for the Reds against the Pittsburgh Pirates, But spent most of his baseball career in the minor leagues.

-Barry’s son DeShane Larkin, Played in the NBA from 2013 till ‘18, Now, plays professionally in a Turkish Basketball Super league and the Euro-league.
