Ohioans Can Discharge Fireworks on Specified Holidays Legally

Ohioans can legally discharge 1.4G consumer fireworks in Ohio on certain days unless the relevant political subdivision has chosen to ban their use. Under previous law, individuals could purchase consumer-grade fireworks in Ohio but had to transport them out of state within 48 hours.

Beginning July 2022, unless limited by local laws, set them suckers off!

Ohioans can discharge consumer fireworks on the following dates and times:

  • July 3, 4, and 5, and the weekends immediately before and after (4 p.m.-11 p.m.)
  • Labor Day weekend (4 p.m.-11 p.m.)
  • Diwali (4 p.m.-11 p.m.)
  • New Year’s Eve (4 p.m.-11:59 p.m.)
  • New Year’s Day (12 a.m.-1 a.m.; 4 p.m.-11 p.m.)
  • Chinese New Year (4 p.m.-11 p.m.)
  • Cinco de Mayo (4 p.m.-11 p.m.)
  • Memorial Day weekend (4 p.m.-11 p.m.)
  • Juneteenth (4 p.m.-11 p.m.)

There are a few rules, some of them are:

-No person under the age of 18 is permitted to handle or discharge fireworks.

-No person can use fireworks while in possession or control of, or under the influence of, any intoxicating liquor, beer, or controlled substance. A person who violates this is guilty of a first-degree misdemeanor.

Rob Gronkowski Announces Retirement

I will now be going back into my retirement home, walking away from football again with my head held high knowing I gave it everything I had, good or bad, every time I stepped out on the field. The friendships and relationships I have made will last forever, and I appreciate every single one of my teammates and coaches for giving everything they had as well. From retirement, back to football and winning another championship and now back to chilling out, thank you to all.

Rob Gronkowski’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said that Gronk could still come out of retirement “if Tom Brady calls him during the season,” per @AdamSchefter

A gas station manager who raised over $20,000 to make up for a mistake that cost him his job says company refuses to accept the money

John Szczecina lost his job after charging 69 cents a gallon on premium gas at a Shell gas station in Rancho Cordova, California. The gas station reportedly lost $20,000 after hundreds of cars took advantage of the low price.

To repay the station owners, Szczecina’s sister started a GoFundMe, which raised more than $24,000.  “He doesn’t have to pay it back,” Jackson said.

“But just the fact that he is doing it and wants to do it shows a lot of character and honesty and responsibility, and I’m really proud of him for that.”

The company that owns the station said in a letter to Szczecina that they “will not accept” the funds raised by Szczecina’s family and friends.

“It is the Company’s view that the people who have donated to your GoFunMe fundraising campaign have been misled. The GoFundMe page should be shut down and the people who donated to you should have their money returned to them.”

GoFundMe told KCRA that the funds would have to be refunded if not accepted by the company.

Civil Jury finds Bill Cosby Guilty of 1974 Sexual Battery, Awards $500k

A Los Angeles jury found embattled comedian Bill Cosby guilty in a civil trial filed by Judy Huth, a woman who claimed he sexually assaulted her as a teenager in the 1970s. The jury, comprised of eight women and four men, found that Cosby, 84, is liable for damages and awarded Huth $500,000 in damages. No punitive compensation was awarded. Huth first filed the case in 2014, claiming sexual battery and both intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress. The original filing claimed that the incident happened in 1974 when Huth was 15 years old, but the timeline was later revised to 1975 when Huth was 16. Cosby’s attorneys have denied the claim and attempted to get the case dismissed. Since 2005, more than 50 women have come forward to accuse Cosby of sexual assault. After being convicted of assaulting Andrea Constand in Philadelphia, Cosby served just under 3 years in prison before his conviction was overturned on appeal. This is the first civil case by any Cosby accuser to make it to trial.
